Michael Robert Johnson
Michael Robert Johnson is a British screenwriter.
Michael is the creator, writer and showrunner of the 2025 historical epic drama series KING AND CONQUEROR for BBC and CBS. It stars Nikolaj Coster-Waldau and James Norton and is directed by Baltasar Kormakur. Michael also serves as executive producer on the series.
Michael wrote the critical and commercial hit feature film SHERLOCK HOLMES for Warner Bros, directed by Guy Ritchie and starring Robert Downey Jr and Jude Law. The film was nominated for two Academy Awards and became the eighth highest grossing film of 2009.
Further credits include the action feature POMPEII (Sony Pictures, 2014) directed by Paul W Anderson and starring Kit Harington, the thriller LATE SHIFT (Golden Village Pictures, 2016), described as "the world's finest cinematic interactive movie", and the second series of THE FRANKENSTEIN CHRONICLES (Rainmark/ITV, 2018) starring Sean Bean and Vanessa Kirby. Mike has been a longtime collaborator with Duncan Jones, and together they wrote 2018’s MUTE for Netflix (Liberty Films).
