Philip Froissant is an award-winning German actor.

Philip is best known for starring as the male lead ‘Franz Joseph’ in Netflix’s smash hit original series THE EMPRESS, for which he was awarded ‘Best Actor’ at the 2023 German Television Awards.

The series became one of the most popular non-English series of 2022, with over 150 million hours streamed. Philip reprised his role in the second season, which debuted in November 2024 to critical and audience acclaim. Season 3 will premiere in late 2026.

Philip’s further credits include leading the cast of the crime thriller series ONE TRILLION DOLLARS for Paramount+, starring as ‘Friedemann’ in the German feature TRIAL OF HEIN directed by Kai Stänicke, and as ‘Jakob’ in Christian Petzold’s feature MIRRORS NO.3, which had it’s world premiere in the Director’s Fortnight section at 2025 Cannes Film Festival. He also starred in Netflix’s German-language feature BLACK ISLAND, directed by Miguel Alexandre.

Philip is fluent in three languages: English, German and French.
